In 2018 Marni opens the doors launching 4 new stores around the world. Each store has been represented by exclusive custom made papier machè sculptures, 1 per store on each city.
The goal was to promote stores opening by creating individual storytelling based on the city every store is located.
For Rome: to create and develop a video in a modern neorealist style, with a vespa as a main character of Rome streets – important feature of the store is the marble floor silhouette of the vespa. To integrate exclusive custom made papier machè sculpture of a Bull in the video.
Pink Salt asks Ariel Costa – BlinkMyBrain – to participate in the project. The artist creates an elegant, but surrealistic environment for the piece. Rhythm, geometry and optical illusions compose the elegant journey of a stylised character in her search for Marni. The video is all black and white with just a little hints of color when we see the Marni brand in the end. Although the artist has the plot established as an adventure quest, he doesn’t tell a conventional story, with beginning middle and end. In order to create a surrealistic narrative he makes each scene to works on its own, without being locked in a linear narrative. The editing is going tight everything together, creating a good rhythm along the film. The Los Angeles based artist delivers a style, characterised by a slight retro touch and an amazing use of shades and solid tints. A remarkable music is also signed by him.
