After Pink Salt designed the Game One Channel Rebrand, Paramount commissioned additionally the seasonal idents for Festive Holidays including the customisation of the On-Air station bug and the bumpers in and out of break. The mission is to develop a seasonal package to promote holiday season keeping consistency in the identity of the new channel. Creatively the goal is to design something simple and ‘timeless’ and avoid conventional palette and stereotypes around winter holiday season.
Leaning on the feeling of nostalgia that’s often a big part of the holiday season, brand designer Jason Robert developed this concept using a Super Mario–inspired winter landscape, with falling snowflakes, snow–topped trees, and gift–wrapped power–up boxes. To keep the scene centred around Game One, the monolith has been turned into big snow–topped landmarks, turning out into a fantasy landscape. Various parts of the pixel art scene has been adapted to create different designs, all centred around the same theme, and all creating a strong image that is clearly aimed at gamers. White pixel style snowflakes could fall inside a hollow outlined monolith, gradually filling it up until it becomes full. When full, the yellow gradient slides over the surface of the monolith, and white snowflakes are revealed, black 3D snowflakes are placed within the monolith, as a direct visual reference to the bumpers. At a glance, this creates a clear winter theme while retaining the pixel style featured throughout the Game One rebrand, with the exceptional touch of Giorgio A. Schwarz aka Ideosuite making all of this possible in motion. The cherry on the cake was put by the remarkable work of sound design and branding, Michael Fakesch, whose expertise truly elevated the project. The chosen concept was a more minimalistic approach, relying solely on sound effects without any musical elements. This design was crafted to focus entirely on the auditory atmosphere, allowing the sound effects to create an immersive experience while maintaining the project’s overall identity.
