MTV Germany, a channel with a strongly music–based audience, approached Pink Salt to develop a campaign concept that would reposition the channel from music–led to reality–led, without losing its distinctive brand DNA.The goal was to communicate the brand through the content itself, with a focus on reality programming.
We were asked to create a creative solution to promote groups of shows through promos and key arts.The look & feel had to be unmistakably MTV–branded with a versatile and fresh language for a rollout across on–air, social and DOOH. The objective was to define a visual language capable of seamlessly combining and communicating content and imagery from different sources and moods, bringing them together in a cohesive and recognizable system.
A dynamic composition of multiple frames where talent, brand and typography create a memorable and bold patchwork that expresses the full brand personality.Different pieces of content literally interact with one another, while the graphic system embraces the bold, geometric language of the MTV brand, creating striking and high-impact visuals.
The campaign concept “Reality S*cks” was conceived as a provocative and versatile creative statement, expressed through a cohesive visual language that is unmistakably MTV. Rooted in the brand’s unapologetic relationship with reality — raw, daring and unfiltered — the concept captures MTV’s authentic DNA and transforms it into a powerful, contemporary campaign narrative.
The campaign reinforces MTV’s distinctive visual voice while remaining flexible, scalable and adaptable across multiple platforms.
Giorgio A. Schwarz, aka Ideosuite, is an italian design director & animator born and raised in Milan, Italy. In the past 10 years he helped international companies and their leaders to communicate entertainment brands to a global audience. He contributed to make bold business strategies happen by bridging the gap between their definition and their implementation, through a design driven approach to creativity and problem solving. His experience stands in a variety of fields and techniques, with over 15 years experience in animation & design direction. He worked with international broadcasting companies, such as Discovery, Paramount and Gazprom Media.
